DAMES LOSE TO VETTE CITY'S A-TEAM
After a slow start against Vette City's improving Vixens in Bowling Green, KY, the Destruction Dames came up big in the second half, but it wasn't enough. The bout didn't start well when the 2 points earned by Abbs of Steel in the first jam were awarded to Vette City. But that wasn't the only problem the Dames had. The Dames were able to garner only 5 lead jammers in the first 18 jams, falling behind by 57-7 near the half. Then Full throttle took advantage of Vette's Chelsey Dagger taking a trip to the box, and added 14 points to close the gap to 38 at 59-21. Halftime score 69-24, Vette City.
Things got better in the second half with the Dames' blockers and jammers getting more active resulting in more lead jammers. The Dames nearly split lead jammers with the Vixens over the first five jams but were outscored 10-8 allowing the Vixens to open the lead slightly.
After the Vixens had two 4-0 jams, Abbs boarded 12 points when Brickhouse Barby went to the box, came out, then went back in. With Barby still in the box, Throttle followed with 12 points in her second power jam of the night while the Dames' pack held the re-entering Barby scoreless. The Vixens went on a 24-11 run before Abbs and Nitro twice exchanged places in the box, but Nitro was the last one in and finished the 7-4 Vette-advantage jam in the box. The Dames' blockers took that opportunity to allow Throttle-who had already matched her first half output-to lap the pack four times before the jam clock ran out; Throttle closed the gap to 26 points by adding 23 for the Dames.
Nitro entered to start the final jam against What's Her Face, but Face out-dueled her 3-2 to bring the Dames second-half tally to 71 points and shrink the gap, making the final score Vixens 120, Dames 95.
The Dames were led in scoring by Full Throttle with 53 points followed by Abbs of Steel with 26. Vette City was led by Lil' Nitro's 66 points (40 in the first half), with Chelsey Dagger coming in second with 30 points. |

ARCH RIVAL'S ST. LUNACHIX 99, DEMOLITION CITY'S DESTRUCTION DAMES 49
Jammer fouls and power jams made the difference in the Arch Rivals's St. Lunachix's victory over Demolition City's Destruction Dames Saturday at the downtown Memorial Coliseum. After holding the Dames scoreless in the first 7 jams, the Lunachix led only 7-0 because they, themselves, were able to score in only three of those jams. The Dames then put up 9 points in the next two jams while holding the Chix scoreless to take a 9-7 lead. After another scoreless jam, Black Market Baby bested the Dames' jammer 9-4 to re-take the lead at 11-9.
Two jams later, Starry Starry Fight added 19 points in a power jam as our jammer went to the box, giving the Chix a 34-9 lead at the half.
To open the second half, Lillith of the Valley added 4 points to Starry's 0, and Abbs added another point to bring the difference to 25 at 39-14 after three jams. Then came the difference maker. The Dames jammer went to the box, and Starry tacked on 20 points in her absence to make it a 45-point difference at 59-14. The two teams traded points over the next six jams, and the Chix added one point to their lead with about eight minutes remaining. Then the Dames' jammer cut the track and Starry added another 20 points in her third power jam of the night to make the score 99-33. The Dames added 16 points to the Chix zero over the final three jams, but it was way too little and way too late; Starry's 59-0 difference in her three power jams was too much to overcome. Final score, St Lunachix 99, Destruction Dames 49. Top scorer for the Lunachix was Starry Starry Fight with 63 points while Lillith of the Valley led the Dames with 28 points.
ARCH RIVAL'S ALL-STARS 197, DEMOLITION CITY'S DYNAMITE DOLLS 68
The front wall of the Arch Rival Roller Girls' All-Stars controlled the track Saturday night at the Memorial Coliseum allowing the Demolition City Roller Derby's Dynamite Dolls only four lead jammers in the first half while delivering eleven of their own. Jammer penalties added to the Dolls misery.
After DCRD's Godjilla took the opening jam 3-1 against South City Shiner, The Wall held the Dolls scoreless until B Dawn Kadonk put up a 9-0 jam when The Educator went to the box. Meanwhile, ARRG was adding 31 points to their total, including a 10-pointer from Downtown Dallis to make the score 32-12 near the mid-mark of the half. A couple of jams later, Shiner and Dallis added 10 and 9 points while the Dolls' jammer was in the box. In the next jam, Godjilla returned the favor by posting a 15-3 jam when Mighty Mighty Boston made her trip to the penalty couch, but Educator, Shiner and Dallis added 38 points in back-to-back-to-back power jams to make the score 97-31 with only one scoreless jam left in the half.
The second half was much like the first, but with a little more flair, and the penalties started earlier. In jam two, Dallis added 10 points for ARRG as the Dolls' jammer finished the jam on the couch. Next, Mighty passed the star to Smarty McFly and shared a 20-point jam as the Dolls' jammer re-entered the box, making the score 132-39. Near mid-half, Shiner added a 14-0 jam for ARRG followed by Dallis' 18-0 jam to make it 173-39. Next, DCRD and ARRG jammers exchanged places on the couch, but Mighty earned a 13-point advantage for the All-Stars in the exchange to make the score 186-39. Near the end of the half, Shelby and Godjilla tallied 9 and 12-point jams for the Dolls followed by an 8-8 wash between Godjilla and Dallis for a final score of 197- 68.
Downtown Dallis led ARRG with 82 points followed by 44 points from South City Shiner with 44 points and Mighty Mighty Boston and The Educator with 40 and 31 each. Godjilla led the Dolls with 38 points followed by Shelby N Pain with 21 points.
